Love’s Attire

Clothe me in your body’s gown,

Raise my spirit to heaven’s crown,

Through the years of solitude,

I watched the seasons change their moods.

High in the leaves of the old oak tree,

A blue bird sings a cheerful reveille.

My restless spirit fills the air,

The mountain’s presence everywhere,

I lift my hands wearing nature’s somber dress,

Dancing in the moonlight’s painted loveliness.

There is no pain or tears tonight,

As I lay in peaceful sleep once more,

Beneath the sky’s restful spell unfolds,

And as I wait the sun’s waking rise,

And by her side a morning’s fire,

You will clothe me in your love’s attire.

Word for the day

I rest on my terrace and the sky is clear,
A few wisps of white clouds are drifting near,
I hear the splashing of water in the fountain nearby,
And the garden plants stretch higher each day that passes by.
The evening is warm as shadows commence their dance,
A light kiss from the wind for me and the plants;
It’s peaceful around me,
As birds do their singing,
A lovely chorus for me and
All who will listen;
GOD gave us nature,
And sweet designs from above,
I know that I Thank Him,
I hope it’s enough.

Angels in the winds

High above the waters

In a land not forsaken

By God’s own gracious hand.

I count the glowing windows

As I pass them in the night

Rows of little beacons

Showing me there is life.

Moments of comfort,

I am at peace

In the silence of the darkness

As angels watch over me.

Dress of Gold

sunrise

The wind of life blows through me,
At times- it whispers,
At times- it wails;
Allow my soul to be a reed,
And sing a song that never fails.
Wordless singing is clearly true,
Either wailing wind
Or skies of blue;
Give me joyous musings,
If you please,
While in the distant church bells ring.
Birds dispersing magnolia seeds
Along tree-covered silent streets,
And, as sunset wraps herself in dress of gold,
Emotions fade like falling stars,
Streaming past heavens wide and far,
Swiftly subtracting wounding words,
Allow my soul to sing a song.

Happy Father’s Day!

To my Father,

Life is full of challenges

With dry and dusty roads

But, we knew we were loved

As you showed us rainbows.

You wiped each tear

And said, “Believe”,

Holding each hand

You taught us to dream.

You could have been weary

But we never knew,

You only showed strength

Healing each wound.

Your words did encourage,

Your wisdom embraced us,

You allowed us our choices

As your prayers did protect us.

(In Remembrance of my father who passed away only six months ago from cancer)
(May you rest in peace)

**For you Dad,

We couldn’t have made it in this life full of pathways

If you hadn’t been holding each hand in your heart

Each and every day.

Thank you father!!

Listen, The birds Sing

“Shhhh, listen to the birds sing”,

My grandfather said;

As a young girl I listened,

And the birds sang.

“Shhhh, listen to the birds sing”,

I said as a mother;

My children listened,

And the birds sang.

“Shhhh, listen to the birds sing”,

My children say;

Their children listen,

And the birds sing.

Union of Love

Pigtails or braids

What is it today?

A cold winter night

Stars so bright

Hugs and kisses

Love union – sheltered

Twirls and skips

Dances on the wooded floor

Running off to play

Tears in my gaze

Love composed,

Warm inside.

Love’s Eternal Song

A time-worn man slopes forward –

With every single footstep he proceeds –

One foot in front of the other –

Along a tree-lined pebbled path,

Oak trees grown and curved,

Arching, covering like umbrellas –

Hiding the sun’s warmth

From his own back.

A wooden cane his constant companion,

Slowly, he strolls headlong –

Hidden within the moss-covered forest,

He salutes an additional day –

With a soul of appreciation;

While butterflies leave their cocoons,

Sun tempting flowers blooms,

God watching light dance upon the waters;

No remorse has he –

For he has loved

Only One other,

His friend, his wife, his lover;

She waits for him –

In the sunlight –

Beyond the forest’s edge;

His journey nearly finished –

Not far from her quietness;

Waiting the day’s end,

He strolls without stopping –

Visions of – hands in hands,

His only love and him.

His cane these days absent,

The sunlight on his back,

They hike the trail christened, ‘Eternity’,

They measure a morning sun rising,

Stirring the earth below,

Shimmering upon the land;

Hand in hand, they smile

While they sing together,

Love’s eternal song.

A Living Sea

Her eyes gaze upward and witness

The bluest sky of some she has seen,

Issuing forth strength to her weakening soul,

Pure, warm – a living sea;

A towering terrain she plants her feet,

A flowing stream to point her toward

Realms beyond her simple child-like dreams.

She captures a glimpse of sunlight’s smile,

She sings a song of happiness,

A faultless peace, a gift of love;

Illumination creates merriment, and

Dominates her soul,

Disquiet and difficulty fade away,

An age of joy will be her harbor,

An age of love will keep her clothed,

An age of rest will be her guest,

Her spirit soars as sunlight washes ashore.

Your Song

I pray you find

The peace of heaven

While angels dance and sing

Your song; I hope you look

Upon the blue skies

While clouds with

Cotton candy depths

Drift slowly on home;

I wish you all the happiness

That abides forever within

The ever swiftly moving waters,

Where hopes and new dreams

Abide in all men.

Walking My Way

I saw him through the sunlight

Walking my way,

I prayed he would stop

And say, ”Good-day”.

He did just that-

And my throat froze up,

I tried to speak,

But nothing came out.

He smiled at me,

While we stood still,

The wind brushed his hair,

While, I tried not to stare.

His words came out softly,

I could hardly hear, because

My heart pounded so loudly

While he stood very near.

I smiled at him and nodded,

And he did the same-

As he turned and walked away,

Man, what a shame!

Spirits in the Night

There’s a story on the island

of spirits in the night,

a special place where they go to dance

on the sand in the midnight moonlight.

You can hear them singing

and laughing

as they hide in the fog,

they play hide-n-seek and

ride the surf’s roll.

You won’t see their faces—

but they see your soul,

they watch you and hear you

as the island winds blow.

Their seaweed hair wet,

limbs swaying in the mist,

the moonlight gone,

as the sand turns cold,

they return each night,

it’s their favorite place,

well—that’s what I’m told.

Laughing children on a sunny day,

barns stacked full with fresh baled hay,

bright red apples on trees in a row,

autumn leaves scattered on the ground below.

Children playing in flowered fields,

grazing horses dot the rolling hills,

night arrives with star splashed sky,

and children chase the fireflies.

My heart is captured

By new hopes- with dreams

Wished upon the falling stars;

I embrace them near,

With anticipation,

With promise –

They arise true;

Holding them tight,

Not letting them steal away,

Not allowing disappointment

Or sorrow;

With a open heart –

I search the sunbeams,

And moon shadows,

I cling to my dreams.

sunlight orchestrated with the

dark corners.

His thoughts linger lovingly

with visions of mid-day encounters,

as the breeze plays,

gently brushing the willow tree’s branches.

Night is Nigh

The night is nigh with parting day,

Winds blow slowly over land,

As I plod homeward on my weary way,

And sunset dips behind the man,

Far from the maddening crowds and stressful life,

The pleasing anxious night is nigh,

Leaving arms of warmth this blissful day,

A kindred spirit shall be my mate,

Let me see him at daylight’s break,

And while the sun sets on my lawn,

And as the brook babbles near my ear,

My love will erase all my fear,

Gentle hands stroke my hair,

Heart of strength press me close,

The more he gave, the less I spoke,

A slumberous sound and loving dreams,

I welcome night and the silent breeze,

The night is nigh, and I am pleased.

An Old Woman

1400-Years-Old-Angel-Oak-Tree-One-Of-The-Oldest-Living-Tree-In-The-World_-1

Beneath the shade of an old oak tree,

there sat an old woman

completely free,

humming and singing

an unfamiliar song,

with sounds so sweet

and words not long.

Her white sun-kissed hair

blowing like a running mare

on the tails of the wind,

and her tan leathery skin,

draped with a dress

vibrant in colors

and apparently unpressed.

A spell she cast on me

as I sat near,

how lovely, how serene,

with smells of sweet flowers

awakening in the spring.

A warmth filled my soul

as I closed my eyes,

how peaceful was the

never-ending blue sky.

I could stay there for hours,

no time was addressed,

I had no where to be

and,

I needed the rest.

Colors

Look deep within me, where colors rest;

Silent loveliness of maiden white tulips,

Yellow velvet roses glide across my memories,

The blue bird sings a blissful tune,

Young desires of games in adventure still plainspoken,

Red wild flames persist to cultivate my longings,

Faith’s triumphs brought unsullied tomorrows,

I carry the warmth of a seasoned heart,

A teller of new courage, my muse, my poet;

I gaze transversely the valley green,

What need is there for such expression

When eyes behold God’s finest daybreak?

Blue and crimson sky alongside morning’s dew drops,

Raises her golden arms to earth’s realms,

Her brown earthy incense filling my nostrils,

Leaves on trees beholding shades of green,

Gilded silence of the glistening snow-covered mountain peaks,

Turquoise lakes sparkling in tranquility,

Colors deep within me…
