Love’s Attire

Clothe me in your body’s gown,

Raise my spirit to heaven’s crown,

Through the years of solitude,

I watched the seasons change their moods.

High in the leaves of the old oak tree,

A blue bird sings a cheerful reveille.

My restless spirit fills the air,

The mountain’s presence everywhere,

I lift my hands wearing nature’s somber dress,

Dancing in the moonlight’s painted loveliness.

There is no pain or tears tonight,

As I lay in peaceful sleep once more,

Beneath the sky’s restful spell foretold,

And wait the sun’s waking rise,

And by her side is morning’s fire,

I will clothe you in my love’s attire.

The Best Gift

It was the best gift
I did received,
I was eight years old.
A beautiful illustrated book of poems
For children,
By Robert Louis Stevenson.
I read his poems over and over,
Pretending I was the children in his book,
And pretending I wrote the poems
As he did.
I still own this book,
I keep it in a safe place,
I still take it out,
Hold it,
And read the fragile pages
That expands my imagination.

Returning Home

It is elevating to retrace my footsteps

In the direction of the mountains,

To gaze at the new fallen snow,

To witness the glistening of icicles

And how they form in the sun –

In my spirit I have returned home,

I fathom my journey at this moment,

And it ensued into a long-lasting one.

I appear as before in outward view,

A few more lines, a few more pounds,

A softened heart, I wear no mask,

And childlike notions—I allocated—

I outgrew.

In my own right on a midsummer night,

In my sentiment—mountains reminiscent of,

My muse arising depositing poetry at task.

By way of a pen—my contemplation

Obtaining shape,

My face against the wind,

My essence engaged in words realigned,

Together with a stillness of reason

And spirit unconfined,

Mysterious language assembling,

Selected in the same way

As a trusted friend,

In my spirit I have returned home.

Sweet Designs

I rest on my terrace and the sky is clear,

A few wisps of white clouds are drifting near,

I hear the splashing of water in the fountain nearby,

And the garden plants stretch higher each day that passes by.

The evening is warm as shadows commence their dance,

A light kiss from the wind for me and the plants;

It’s peaceful around me,

While birds do their singing,

A lovely chorus for me and

All who will listen;

Our GOD gave us nature,

And sweet designs from above,

I know that I Thank Him,

I hope it’s enough.

Your Touch

Heal me with your touch,

Allow the warmth of your soul

To surge within me;

Be satisfied to love my yearning

For broaden familiarity of your expression;

Recognize me increased,

Exceeding everyone else –

In discerning complex mysteries,

Whose underlying identities elude not me;

Hold on to my love,

I seek merely your touch.

Colors

Look deep within me, where colors rest;

Silent loveliness of maiden white lilies,

Pink velvet roses

glide across my cheek,

The blue bird sings a blissful tune,

Young desires of games in adventure still forthright,

Wild red flames persist to cultivate my longings,

Faith’s triumphs bringing unsullied tomorrows,

I carry yellow warmth of a seasoned heart,

A teller of new courage, my muse, my poet;

I gaze transversely the valley green,

What need is there for such eloquence

When our eyes behold God’s finest daybreak?

The blue and crimson sky alongside morning’s dew drops,

She raises her golden arms to earth’s realms,

Her brown earthy incense filling my nostrils,

Leaves on trees beholding shades of green,

Gilded silence of the glistening snow-covered mountain peaks,

Turquoise lakes sparkling in tranquility,

Colors deep within me…

Captured Heart

My heart is captured

By new hopes and dreams

Wished upon the falling stars;

For each and every one

I embrace them near,

With anticipation,

With promise –

They arise true;

Holding them tight,

Not letting them steal away,

Not allowing disappointment

Or sorrow;

With open heart –

I search for sunbeams,

And moon shadows,

I cling to my dreams.

Hearts Free

Be liberated, soar elevated,

Stretch towards the heavens,

Breath in the perfumes

Contained by the air –

Do not fail to remember

The stage we shared,

The fireplace passion,

Morning’s opening glow,

In the early dawn hours.

Hearts free, do not despair,

This is not farewell.

Flying Kites

Raindrops on a midsummer day,

A chapel where we go to pray,

Tears from angels at our diversions,

A generation fully conversant;

We each fly our own kite, puzzling

To make it presentable – not trite,

Be it notably spoiling,

Or exceedingly valuable;

Hearts of material hunger render us sad,

Tears from angels at the loves we stab,

In due course our actions stacked,

Reminiscing this –

Perhaps.

My Love For You

Published September 11, 2013 by Kathleen's Writings & Art

Did the world truly exist-

Before we loved?

With Mutual delights,

Shining splendor,

And dreams select;

An autumn day you appeared

As my falling star searing brightly

Across the black midnight sky,

Where all my wishes were;

Say you love me,

If only for this day,

And if I whisper back, “I love you”,

Will you consider to forever stay?

Your loveliness a stronghold,

While I trace your loving warmth –

My arms gather your body’s form,

My heart knows no other yesterday,

While in our tenderness we lay.

No masks to wear,

No games to play,

I vow my love for you

Never to betray,

The fruit of my honor

I give to thee, and only thee.

I’ll long for you forever,

I pray your love grows

Designed merely for me,

And every day I await your love-

This you will eternally see.

A Child Treasured

Published September 4, 2013 by Kathleen's Writings & Art

The old man slowly arises

From his profound sleep,

Groggy head, blurred vision,

The love of his life, lying at his side,

A solitary tear escaping his pale blue eyes,

A remembrance of their dance engulfing his mind.

They received a son with hair of gold,

A child they treasured, bejeweled in murals upon their walls,

Days of laughter and years in richness,

Sweet smiles and countless kisses.

A man he became as he did grow,

Strong and sturdy, with a heart of dreams.

The day did arrive he resolved his attention

On far away kingdoms with hopes of wealth,

He sailed his ship on waves of grand

A madness he chased while he grew old –

never to return;

His father misses him, his mother cries.
